summer breeze
Not really, but in relation to the way the wet chill was riding Chicago over the last couple weeks, it felt lovely. Planted perennials, a mugo pine, and took out two scraggled up rose bushes. They were lacking. Got the worked hands today, good feeling. Good Polish food from Kasia’s down the street, that would be a deli not a friend named Kaisa. Not yet at least. That was pretty chill and yummy for sure. All seemed good in the world, even peeped the Simpson’s Tree House of Horrors deal, twenty seasons… crazy shite. Then I make my way over to Derek and Mary’s home for a nice Sunday Night Bears game, and what the fuck, they lose. They don’t just lose, they do all the stuff a team does to make sure that the other team wins, turnovers, and illmatic penalties. Whatevers, I”m in the process of getting that out of my system, Dinosaur Jr plays as I type. And to think, they just played, short show I hear. So with bobbing knees and such I bring it back to the word illmatic form just a sec ago. I”m looking very much forward to spinnin tunes at Deville soon, I checked out the booth, and I like how the tables are already set in a good way. I mean, when you head to a spot and the decks are turned in a classic house set up, well… usually the mixer is all super wide, and its seems ready for the same ole same ole matching of the bpms to be set on them, and that is a skill. Just too far apart for much touching of both records. What am I talking about, like i’m going to bust some Mix Master Mike type shit, i’m very out of touch with the touching of the tables lately. The timing is pretty much always going to be there,,,,, I hope so, yeah, whey would I assume its always going to be there? So yeah, i”m going to play some Illmatic by Nas for sure. Something off that record at least, and some Dinosaur JR. The usual fare of tunes there is not so diverse, alt type clean. Not the djs, the ipods usually. I have only heard one dj there, Brock. worked.
Life if good, brother is out, one more to go, and a nephew after that…. I can’t wait for this prison shit to be done with my family. There was a summer breeze though, and in the words of the Isley Brothers, “It made me feel fine”, but not the Bears…. Not tonight.
Crompatition, this is a work that Mix Master Mike and his tour manager used to describe how good the herbs were in cities that they were on tour with. Nothing to do with me, but Champaign Urbana represented that night, scoring near the top of the tour at that point. Funny shit. Opened for him and M.O.P, I think I was one of the only folks who knew who they were, but the crowd was there loving that Brownsville New York bump. I know I was. So yeah, check the roll. No real reason to go off that way just then, but I had Crompatition in my head. heh hey.
