memo mad glad
Magnatuars and Pulsars touch loose stars that bump jams by El Dabarge. This is easily the start of some fumbly rap classic, mine at least. I was shifting through the memo section of my phone, a smile grows still. Funny shit. Magnataurs and Pulsars, that was a moment worth noting while watching The Universe. Killer show, brings me back to some Carl Sagan Cosmos tip. Neil deGrasse Tyson is for sure on the way back fantastic approach to explaining. I love it. So yeah, I must of really liked those words, but not enough to also note what exactly they are. They are massive, and of the Galaxy, any more to know… let me google that for you.
Nell Minnow is another word I must have liked. Why even pass tense that, I still like Nell Minnow. She is a cool woman, she makes art, lives life, and likes beets. Nell is a worrier, she will kick your ass if your with the wrongness, and that’s hot. Mostly Nell Minnow is anyone.
Todos el tiempo, I like that. Maya then the Aztec, as the Spanish rolled through. Something about that history, a history repeated and done earlier. All over the world, uncles, moms, brothers and na na’s, people of earth. Just fucked by some group of adventurous killer land and resource gobblers. Border drop on Karma alone, not just here in the US, but where ever people need to cross for betterment. Open veins of Latin America, Anthills Of The Savannah… It’s all the same struggle. Bottom up steeze. So yeah, all the time in Spanish was my inspiration for that moment.
This is the voice of a ghost, Tiokasin Ghosthorse. I thought of him when I heard those words in my head. This is the voice of a ghost, I was thinking that when I was talking to someone, and well.. they seemed to not be getting the point of the conversation, a point I have long forgotten. I assigned those words to explain to myself why the person wasn’t hearing me. Kind of dramatic I know, that happens. Tiokasin was one of my first classmate to friend people out in OIympia. Good conversations with him about the Chief lameness with the University of Illinois. Cheyenne River Lakota Nation homie to my right and Peter Bohmer teaching class, that was some political economy and social change race, class, and gender shit. Worth the distance from home for sure. Tiokasin asked me if I would like to hoop with him in a league, he told me we would be playing with his friends. Tiokasin picked me up in his truck, and we drove to a middle school in Lacy. Lacy is just north of Oly, and where the good Korean BBQ is. More on Lacy another time, its basically still Oly in my mind. We arrive at the school, its cold out. His friend were all First Peoples, and I gotta say, I was feeling kinda special to the included in the Peoples Squad (i just made that name up, pretty cool maybe) I was the only other person of any color in the gym, and it was all good. We won, those dudes on my team were some barrel chested, tallish, no bullshit uniformity with gear and such, ballers. I was worked into the rotation, and I didn’t do jack, but I didn’t hurt us at all either. You gotta know i’m good for some boards at least. So yeah, that was what This IS The Voice Of A Ghost brings about. Ghosthorse is in NYC, doing his thing. Being a voice of importance, FirstVoicesIndigenousRadio. You can let me google that for you, or maybe www.firstvoicesindigenousradio.org.
When planes hit bird, or the other way around, though that hardly seems likely… We say Bird Strike. The person that shot and killed John Wilkes Booth was Boston Corbett. I once knew a David Corbett. Bird Strike, Boston Corbett and the phrase , “I thought the peas were perfection” were all neatly combined into one memo on the memo pad. What is this? I know that Bird Strike, like Nell Minnow are just words that I like the way of band names. I know, i’m almost 40 years old and thinking of band names. Why, i’m not really making music at the moment. When I was younger I would think of band names because I had desire and chances to be part of musical outfits, but now? No matter, I won’t stop. There are lots of good word groupings.
The John Cheney Express
Tackle Box
Government Cars (which is more than a name, details to come)
Aqua Farmer
Conflicted Lee, This doesn’t belong on this list, wait… this isn’t a list. Not with the topic of band names then, Conflicted Lee is another kind of Nell Minnow type, but funnier. If there was a band called Conflicted Lee, their music would suck. Some bad alt rock shit out of…. wherever. THe singer would be breathy.
The Deathers
Unrelated to anything about the memo pad on my phone, there is this. There is this newer Miller Lite commercial out, the theme is familiar to me, being an often times watcher of the football of the NFL. Lots of similar commercial blocks with that programming. The first of the new Miller Lite spots was one that featured Tony Dorsett. University of Pitt, and many a good season with the Dallas Cowboys. I was on some Drew Pearson early Cowboy love back in the first days of football for me, so Dorsett was dope, so I looked up and saw him walking through a bar, while the voice over is in the delivery of a play by play man. “Dorsett cuts right, moves strait ahead” like that. I think he may even score, when he drinks his first sip. Whatever. Well, I’m chillin’ out earlier tonight, and I hear “It’s WAlter Payon cutting left”, I study the tele only to see this white dude who looks like he might be challenged in some way, walking through the bar/ Playing the role in essence of Walter Payton, cutting right, diving forward, scoring says the announcer voice of Walter. But the camera is following this schmo. Sick and Confusing, but mostly sick. Yeah yeah, his foundation or family might be getting some deserved money, but gross.
John Cheney coached for the Temple Owls hoop team for many years. I loved that compassionate, surely, crazy Coach. “i’ll kill you” he was famously quoted as saying. He rules.
