audio page seems to be on chillout mode.

I popped this Iphone app Thump into a pedal, and it sounds pretty thump.  This app lets you save songs you make, and the on board effects are just good enough for one to freak it.  I have been without a sampler for a  while now, and I’ve been thinking about getting a boss 202, but… I”m not trying to be bite.  Needing a beat source, I thought I would turn to the app store.  Did a touch of online search first and found Thump.  Funk Box is also simi neat, but for sure lacks any ability to save tracks. There are actual vintage drum machines on the app.  TR-808, TR-909, TR-606, CR-78, MRK-2, and the ER-1.  They also have a photo of whatever box you are using, cool jangy little pics.  So yeah, the short of it is, once I get the audio players back in effect, I hope to share.  That is pretty much what this space is suppose to be for me, so dangity! Lets roll.  Oh, this was not a paid promotional gibber gabber from apple, though I would like an apple, a fuji.

a Stones Trow Podcast turned me on to this song.  I think it’s grand. It really gets going at some point….  Enjoy.

MOUSE WIZARD VILLAGE

You can have that, go ahead.  Name your band Mouse Wizard Village.  There is a dude on the Detroit Redwings, Justin Abdelkader.  That is a dope last name, not just because its some aggressive sounding hockey name, nah… It’s all world bad ass.  I’m down with the Hawks, so i’m not going to even give props to any wing player beyond saying that is one bad ass name. ABDULKATER!  On the Hawks… I will give props to the sad Blues team that just beat us at home.

Serengeti. Dennehy. nuff said.

These are good peeps.

the octopus project

I really like their tunes.  I suggest peeping it if  your into some chilltime boogie.  Austin TX, I believe.

you might like the beeps.

do me a favor?

Don’t fuck with Champaign Urbana on the rock tip.  Please.

Mark Baldwin, J Vance and Matt Filippo are steeleater.  Old school rock fella’s in a new project.  Castor, Love Cup, Tumler, The Mezzanines, and countless other bands have been a part of these guys past music dealios.  Love this, but don’t love the crumbs I’m finding in my keyboard, roomie is like cookie monster.  Oh well…..  Yeah, this is a crappy youtube post, but you really can’t touch this shit…. and the name steeleater, come on.

this song has been in my head all week.

I spun the 12″ of this last Friday, and it was nice to hear it loud, and with a couple people dancing along.  Yep, I read Star Hits magazine back in 1984, and was a full on pop music kid, complete with red light bulb in my bedroom.  Duran Duran, I wanted to be the black guy in the band.  There was no black guy in Duran Duran, but that was kinda the point.  And though I loved the pop vibe back then, none of my friends knew how much I liked Duran Duran, they might have pegged me as someone who thought they might become a major league baseball player, and well… I actually did think that, pretty much until I was about 20. Funny.  So anyway, “two minutes later” ya’ll.

are you in CU this night? See…

I don’t know how to pronounce this title, but I know that Tristan is good peeps.  I’d see this if I were in the 217.

Bass… How low will I be able to go?

I”m hoping pretty low.  I have yet to bring the amp in from the back porch, but the pedal to fuzz things up will be attatched, and I hope to go low.  I just bought my first instrument since buying a 12″ head conga before going away to college in 92.  Crazy shit.  I have bought several turntables, lots of mixers, tons of replacement styli, several samplers (all of the same type), and one very useful multi effects pedal.  Those have brought me joy, and when I get a hold of another particular sample, I’ll go back into the world of making beats and such, at least I”m feeling that push rise.  But until then, I”m gonna rock this bass.  CL find, just 50 cheaper than than buying it  new.  The young woman that I got it from gave me the soft case, a stand, and the strap it came with, surely all from a package deal for her.  She was prompt and happy to be rid of the bass that she bought and had never really played it. She told me it had been played about 6 times.  I thought that was pretty funny, to tell someone that something was only used 6 times.  It was beyond the deal having been already done, so there was no angle of making the bass look better or newer than it was.  She said it was too big for her, and it was.  Win Win, she and I both have a good craigslist exchange.  I came home just now and didn’t turn on the tv, I picked up the bass, turned off the bright kitchen light, and played for a bit.  This is going to be a nice relationship.  I asked Amy if she had given the bass a name, she hadn’t.  She said for me to give it a good name, I’m not sure if I can yet, or if I will.  I know I will enjoy the meditation of it, the tones, and when the time is right in my building of only one downstairs neighbor, sounds of big low fuzzy swirls.  So yeah, if you think you might want to lean lovingly over an instrument, to let yourself rest your soul for a bit, do it.  Get that device, that sketchbook, heavy bag, that yoga mat.  Were at 2010.

I like his tones, especially in Little Girl In Bloom, and Song for While I”m Away.  I have surely mentioned this in some funky rant before, I can do that.
